Before the
rains had subsided from Typhoon Ketsana,
members of our group were on their cell
phones organizing volunteers and soliciting
monetary aid from local businesses and
organizations.
Every available
person was contacted whom we thought would
be able to provide some assistance within
our local Province of Pampanga and the
surrounding areas.
By the time
the rains had stopped we had collected
enough to begin purchasing food and other
supplies for those we knew would be in
immediate dire
need.
As aid began
pouring in from many sources we solicited
the help of local and regional officials and
agencies who were already gearing up to the
task at hand.
Then came
Typhoon Parma. This typhoon grazed
the northern part of Luzon but still left a
terrible toll on the people living in the
northern provinces and brought even more
rains and mud slides to the rest of the
island. As of October 28, 2009 another
strong storm,
Typhoon Mirinae is
approaching the Philippines and is forecast
to hit on Saturday, Oct. 31,
2009 with sustained winds of 105 mph. This typhoon will add more to the
existing problems.
Since we are
only a handful of individuals we can
only do so much. However, what we have
been able to put together so far has been a
huge help to thousands of people who lost everything including a place to stay.
We NEED
your help. Aid is coming from many
directions but much has still to be
purchased and delivered.
Please give
what you can as soon as you can. The
photos shown here are just a small idea
of the devastation and need.
You will find
a "Donate" button below. Please click
that button and give what you can to help us
aid those in need. We are strictly
self-supporting volunteers, 100% of your
donation will go to helping those in need.
As of this
writing the Philippine Government has
reported that there are still over a half
million homeless and without food, shelter,
clean water, and medical supplies.
These figures
are sure to increase with
Typhoon Mirinae.
Thank you in
advance and Mabuhay - from your friends in
the Republic of the Philippines.
